The Decatur youth bowling program has graduated many top-notch stars to adult leagues for nearly three generations. Jason Finley is the latest to make this promotion with honors, as he recently notched his first career perfect game.

Finley fired his inaugural 12-bagger during an October 4 makeup session of the Spare Time Building Trades League. The left-hander averaged 193 in certified youth leagues last season.

Unfortunately, due to the USBC rule which resulted from the malicious manipulation of unopposed bowling by New Yorker Robert Mushtare, Finley will not be eligible for a 300 ring. His team complied with league rules but bowled alone on that Sunday afternoon due to Wednesday commitments.

Devin Adcock turned the heads of many PBA Midwest pros when he fired a No-Tap 300 during the Decatur Regional in late September. Adcock won his youth division as he topped the 200 mark in his other two games.

For the adults, Doug Teague spun his sixth career 300 on October 1 in the Jasper League, while incoming Hall of Famer Jim Calvert came within one pin of perfection one week later in the Rebels Afternoon League.

Mike Wilkin, Jr. reached the 800 level with games of 279, 246 and 279 on October 9 in Spare Time's Cavalier Classic League. Two "solid-sevens" in the tenth frame robbed Wilkin of 32 total pins and, in the final game, denied him his first 300 of the season.

Jamie Durbin and Don Lewis finished their games with 11 strikes, both reaching 290 last week during Spare Time league play. Steve Bentley came close to that mark with his 289 effort in last Thursday's Pla-Mor Men's League.

Stacey O'Neill showed her All-City form with a 720 set on October 11 in the Cream & Sugar League, while Diane McGee (266) and Judy Shively (258-655) also paced the ladies during the first half of the month.

CITY MIXED: The Decatur USBC Mixed Open Championship will conclude on Sunday at Spare Time. The Saturday squad times will be noon and 3pm, while the Sunday sessions will be at 11am and 2pm.

The format consists of four-person teams, two men and two ladies, using 90% unlimited handicap from a team average of 950. The cost is $20 per bowler for each three-game series.

Male bowlers will earn All-City points for City Mixed Tournament participation. Interested bowlers can call 875-3141 for more information.

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP: The Decatur USBC WBA City Tournament will be held on November 7-8 and 14-15 at Pla-Mor Lanes. Team, Doubles and Singles crowns will be contested, and the cost-per-bowler is $16 per three-game series.

The WBA will feature an optional strike pot and other "novelties" for bowlers to win cash during competition. Entry blanks are available in the three Association centers, and paid entries will be accepted through November 2.

TICKET DEADLINE: Those who are interested in attending the Decatur Bowling Hall of Fame Banquet must purchase tickets by 10pm tomorrow night. The cost is $30 per person for the annual Dinner-Dance, to be held on Saturday night at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel.

The Hall of Fame has announced that tickets will not be sold at the door, stressing that an exact head-count is needed to assure that the attendees are appropriately served.

The Class of 2009 includes Alyce Belden, John Hilligoss, Eileen Zilz, Jim Calvert, Trinity Bush and Jason Queen.
